President Prabowo to Continue European Diplomacy Tour with Visits to Belgium and France
Following a series of previous international visits, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to continue his foreign diplomacy efforts in Europe this week with a strategic agenda in two countries: Belgium and France.
According to Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the President will begin his tour from Brussels, Belgium, to attend an economic forum with European partners. "The economic meeting in Brussels is the main agenda in Belgium, before the President continues to Paris," Prasetyo told the media on Friday (11/7).
In France, Prabowo will attend an official invitation from President Emmanuel Macron for the Bastille Day celebrations on 14 July. Bastille Day is France's national day commemorated annually, and this year Indonesia is among the guests of honour at the celebrations.
Prabowo's attendance also serves as a reciprocal visit following Macron's trip to Jakarta in 2023 for the ASEAN Summit, which was also used to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Indonesian delegation will be led directly by President Prabowo, accompanied by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Minister of Investment and Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
A number of cross-sector cooperation agreements are reportedly being prepared, including in the fields of transportation, culture, and tourism.
Notably, data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) shows that the total value of French investment in Indonesia reached 435 million US dollars over the past five years, making France one of Indonesia's key economic partners from Western Europe.
The visit is expected to open new opportunities for Indonesia to expand trade and investment cooperation, as well as strengthen its strategic position on the global diplomatic stage, in line with the new government's transition.
