Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto received TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, along with Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita and the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday to discuss the development of various strategic programmes being implemented by the TNI. The President was accompanied by Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated that during the meeting, the TNI leadership reported on the progress of various strategic TNI programmes, including achievements that directly support equitable development and the improvement of public welfare. Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak reported on the progress of the electricity programme entering Papua, particularly in the highlands region, which has now reached more than 200 villages. Additionally, the construction of the Garuda Suspension Bridge connecting villages across various regions of Indonesia continues and is now approaching 2,000 points. Piping programmes and the construction of boreholes in areas with limited access to clean water are also being continuously improved. As of June 2026, the number of construction points has approached 2,000 locations, benefiting around one million residents. In the area of soldier welfare, the Army Chief of Staff also reported on the development of various programmes aimed at improving the welfare of TNI personnel while supporting the execution of the state’s primary defence duties throughout Indonesia. ‘Through these various programmes, the TNI continues to contribute to strengthening equitable development, improving inter-regional connectivity, and helping to meet the basic needs of communities in remote areas,’ Teddy stated.
