President Ong in West Sumatra
JAKARTA: Singaporean President Ong Teng Cheong arrived in the
Indonesian town of Padang in West Sumatra yesterday, starting a
three-day visit to the province, Antara reported.
Ong, who arrived with his wife and 13 senior officials, was
greeted at Padang's airport by West Sumatra Governor Hasan Basri
Durin and was whisked away to a posh hotel built by an Indonesia-
Singaporean joint venture.
Ong is scheduled to play golf at the Anai resort golf and
country club some 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Padang on
Tuesday before visiting the Bungus fishery port and Sikuai
island, Antara said.
The president and his wife will fly back to Singapore
Wednesday afternoon, the agency said.
