President deems Banyumas' TPST BLE worthy of becoming national model
The central government will promote the development of similar systems through direct assistance support to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of waste processing in the regions. Banyumas (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto assessed the Integrated Waste Processing Facility Based on Education and Environment (TPST-BLE) in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, as worthy of becoming a national model for waste management. During a direct inspection of the facility located in Wlahar Wetan Village, Kalibagor Subdistrict, Banyumas, on Tuesday afternoon, the President expressed his impression with the innovation developed in waste processing based on simple yet effective technology. “I am very impressed; this is a very good innovation,” said President Prabowo. The President stated that the waste management system at TPST-BLE prioritises the use of technology that is not overly sophisticated but operates effectively due to the utilisation of local products and an integrated system from the household level to the regency. According to the President, this model has the potential to be implemented in various regions in Indonesia and has even attracted attention from abroad. “This is very effective, serving as an example for many provinces and regencies; even from other countries, some have come here,” said Prabowo. The President stated that the central government will promote the development of similar systems through direct assistance support to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of waste processing in the regions. The President also emphasised that waste management has now become a national priority that must be controlled in the near future. “Waste is now a national priority. Within two to three years, we must control waste throughout Indonesia,” said Prabowo. In addition, the President highlighted the innovation in utilising processed waste products, such as the production of roof tiles, which he deemed economical and potentially supportive of the housing improvement programme. Prabowo said that the use of these roof tiles is expected to replace zinc roofs that easily rust and could have adverse health impacts on residents. Through these various efforts, the President hopes that Indonesia will become a cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable country to live in, while supporting the development of the tourism sector. “We will restore Indonesia to being a truly beautiful country, with good tourism, and a comfortable place to live,” said the President. During the visit, President Prabowo was accompanied by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Environment Jumhur Hidayat, and Deputy Minister Coordinator for Food Affairs Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
