Pramono's Account: Offer to Connect Pedestrian Bridge Directly to Sarinah Building
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that he had offered the Sarinah building management the possibility of creating direct access via a pedestrian bridge (JPO). However, the plan had not yet materialised due to heritage building restrictions.
“We actually already offered for this JPO to enter directly into Sarinah. But Sarinah is, what, a heritage building, a cultural monument, so they still want to preserve that,” Pramono said to journalists following the inauguration of the Sarinah JPO in Central Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Pramono believed that direct JPO access to Sarinah would be mutually beneficial. According to him, many people would find it easier to access the Sarinah building directly after alighting from Transjakarta buses.
“If this could enter Sarinah, it would also be advantageous for Sarinah. It’s being done like this because they are simply not yet willing to open up,” he explained.
Nevertheless, Pramono was working to realise the plan. He wanted to find a solution to facilitate the integrated JPO connection.
“But just now I discussed with my Development Assistant to explore again whether they would be willing if we continue this until it enters Sarinah,” he said.
Pramono also stated that the Sarinah JPO would be opened for naming rights offers. He indicated that this approach would generate additional revenue for the DKI Jakarta provincial government.
“I am giving permission to Transjakarta, of course with the DKI Jakarta regional administration, if this space is given naming rights, and if there are naming rights then it will certainly provide income for the DKI Jakarta Government,” he added.
“For that reason, if anyone, whether that is Sarinah or the private sector, wants to use this JPO as their naming rights, we will permit it,” he said.
