Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has requested the Jakarta Environmental Agency and the Development Assistant to promptly follow up on the construction of the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant (PLTSa). “The next stage is to determine the contractor, and then when it can start immediately. I have directly summoned the Head of the Environmental Agency and the Development Assistant for immediate follow-up,” Pramono said in East Jakarta on Tuesday. On Monday (4/5), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Danantara Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the acceleration of the construction of waste-to-energy facilities (PSEL) or PLTSa. Pramono explained that the PLTSa will be built in Bantar Gebang, Kamal Muara, and Sunter, with each having a capacity of 2,500 to 3,000 tonnes of waste. Previously, Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Roeslani estimated that the investment value for building PSEL facilities in Jakarta with a total capacity of 8,000 tonnes per day would reach approximately $1 billion. “If I’m talking about 8,000 (tonnes per day), the investment is roughly $1 billion,” Rosan said. He added that the PSEL project in Jakarta is expected to start operating in early 2028. According to him, the capacity of the built facilities could potentially exceed 8,000 tonnes per day to process old waste piles at the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) Bantargebang. The technology used, Rosan explained, allows waste processing without initial sorting. All waste, including old waste, can be processed directly without separation. “From the technology we’ve applied, there’s no need to separate it. So, it can be done directly, because we also consider the environment, then issues of odour, land issues, we pay very close attention to all of that,” Rosan stated.
