Pramono to Crack Down on Those Trading Free Public-Transport Cards
The Jakarta Provincial Government (DKI Jakarta) has emphasised that the Free Service Card (KLG) for access to public transport must not be sold. Governor Pramono Anung of DKI Jakarta said he would take firm action against individuals engaging in such illegal practices. He said he is monitoring circulating information and even urged relevant authorities to investigate possible involvement of insiders in the abuse of the free transport facilities.
‘I happened to be following this, and I am asking that whoever does this, including if there is any indication of insider involvement, to take firm action,’ Pramono said on Thursday (21 May).
According to him, the KLG programme is only for 15 groups of people to enjoy free, targeted public transport services.
‘Because this now forms part of transparency in the regulation of Jakarta’s transport system, including the cards held, which should be conducted in a transparent and open manner,’ he said.
Earlier, Deputy Coordinator of the Governor’s Special Staff, Yustinus Prastowo, revealed reports from netizens regarding the sale of KLG on social media. The DKI Provincial Government, together with several parties, is currently conducting an investigation.
‘To this matter, we, together with Dishub, MRT, TransJakarta, and Bank Jakarta, are conducting an investigation. If violations are found, they will be dealt with firmly,’ Prastowo wrote on his X account.
According to Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 33 of 2025, there are 15 categories of people entitled to receive the KLG. They include students holding KJP Plus and KJMU, residents of rusunawa, persons with disabilities, the elderly, veterans of the Republic of Indonesia, PJLP, civil servants and retirees of the DKI Jakarta provincial government, and members of the TNI and Polri.
The regulation also states a prohibition on misusing the KLG, including selling or using the card by unauthorised persons. Violators face the penalty of having their free transport facilities withdrawn for one year.
