Pramono to Crack Down on Padel Courts in Jakarta Residential Areas
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is monitoring reports from residents who have complained about padel sport activities in their neighbourhoods. Pramono stated that his administration would promptly convene the heads of relevant agencies for a dedicated discussion on padel sport activities in residential areas.
The governor has instructed his staff to present data on which areas have padel courts that are in violation of permits and are disturbing residents’ comfort. Pramono said his office would map the locations of padel courts across Jakarta and take strict action against any that fail to comply with regulations.
“On Monday or Tuesday, we will immediately decide — for padel courts that disturb public order, that have not obtained the consent of local residents, and whose permits are incomplete, the DKI Jakarta government will take firm action,” Pramono said.
The move comes in response to growing complaints from Jakarta residents, particularly in areas such as Cilandak in South Jakarta, who have reported that padel courts near their homes generate excessive noise that disrupts their daily lives. Complaints have been accumulating since late 2025, as the padel sport has surged in popularity across the capital, leading to a proliferation of commercial courts in residential zones.
Pramono indicated that the provincial government would invite all parties connected to padel court permits for discussions the following week. The outcome of these deliberations is expected to determine the fate of numerous padel venues operating across Jakarta’s residential neighbourhoods.
