Pramono Reveals Plans for New KRL Line Connecting Rawajati to Tanjung Priok
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) is preparing the development of an electric rail (KRL) line spanning 16 kilometres, which will connect Rawajati in South Jakarta to Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta.
The plan emerged from discussions between Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and executives from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI).
Pramono stated that this KRL line is expected to serve as one of the solutions to improve transportation connectivity in Jakarta, particularly from the southern to the northern regions.
The construction plan for this line is considered strategic as it will link residential areas in South Jakarta with port and industrial zones in North Jakarta, including Tanjung Priok Port.
With this line, the public will have a faster alternative mode of transport without relying on private vehicles.
“It will significantly help ease transportation in Jakarta,” Pramono said.
Furthermore, Pramono targets the completion of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) station construction by May 2026, with operations beginning in June 2026.
He hopes that the public can rely on KRL services for travel, especially when attending the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations on 22 June.
“The JIS station. We just had a meeting with the KAI President Director and team. For JIS, it’s estimated to be completed in May, and will operate in June,” Pramono remarked.
In addition, the meeting between Pramono and KAI also discussed plans to integrate several stations in the city centre, namely Dukuh Atas, BNI Station, and Karet Station, which will soon be integrated with other transport modes such as Transjakarta and MRT.
“You just finished a meeting with the KAI Director and team. Including matters regarding Dukuh Atas, as well as BNI and Karet stations, which we will integrate soon,” Pramono stated.
