Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said there would be no bargaining over the operating hours of padel courts in residential areas, with padel activities limited to 8:00 p.m. WIB at the latest. He was responding to claims by a padel court operator that they were attempting to negotiate extending the hours. “For padel in Jakarta, all facilities must be licensed and hold a Building Permit (PBG). For all padel that violate the rules, lacking a PBG, we will take firm action,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. He emphasised that even if a padel court in a housing area has a PBG, it is still not allowed to operate beyond the specified time. “As for padel courts in housing areas, even if they already have a PBG, I have heard that some want to negotiate beyond 8 o’clock; we will not permit it. Maximum 8 p.m.,” he concluded.

Previously, Pramono had restricted the operating hours of padel courts in residential areas, allowing a maximum of 8:00 p.m. WIB and requiring sound dampening. The policy was decided at a closed-door meeting at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 24 February, specifically to address padel enforcement in the capital. Even with a Building Permit (PBG), operators must still comply with the hour restrictions. The DKI Provincial Government also asked mayors, sub-district heads and village heads to engage in dialogue with local residents. In addition to operating hours, noise considerations are a major focus, with Pramono receiving many complaints about ball rebounds and players’ shouts deemed disruptive to comfort.
