Pramono Promises to Assist Residents Affected by Landslide-Hit Homes in Tebet
JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has assured he will take action to assist residents whose homes were washed into the Ciliwung River in Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta, on Friday 6 March 2026.
“For residents like this, once again, in Jakarta the DKI Jakarta Government will step in to deal with it,” Pramono said at Bundaran HI, Jakarta, on Sunday 8 March 2026.
Pramono stressed that the landslide was not the result of the ongoing normalisation of the Ciliwung River.
“This area will indeed be normalised, but eviction has not yet been carried out; it is still being calculated,” he added.
Earlier, two houses were destroyed and swallowed by the landslip in a riverbank settlement on Jalan J, RT 06 RW 10, Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta, on Friday.
Not only that, but access to the local road was partially cut off.
According to Kompas.com’s observations at the site on Saturday 7 March 2026, the ground had slumped for about 25 metres toward the river’s flow.
Meanwhile, the area of landslide covered roughly 5 square metres.
At the base of the bank adjoining the river, piles of debris from collapsed houses could be seen, including bricks, corrugated iron, wood, bamboo fragments, and PVC pipes.
On the edge of the bank, some residents’ belongings remained, such as a white washing machine, plant pots and a cardboard mat discarded on the street.
Yanti (50), a neighbour whose house is immediately adjacent to the landslide point, recounted the terrifying moment the earth and the building near her home sank.
She said the incident occurred on Friday at around 10:30 WIB.
