Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the capital’s special Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) programme would work in cooperation with the national LPDP, although its funding would come from Jakarta.

“The LPDP will work with the national LPDP. I will ask the Finance Ministry for a meeting so that we can coordinate with the central government,” Pramono said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing an overseas scholarship programme for 50 to 75 students from Jakarta in 2027.

“The funding will come from Jakarta and has already been included in the regional budget (APBD), for 50 to 75 prospective students, with a budget of Rp100 billion. Hopefully, it can begin operating next year,” Pramono said.

He said support for education needed to be expanded so that learning opportunities were not determined solely by a family’s financial means.

This underpins efforts to strengthen the various education assistance programmes already running or being prepared by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

Pramono said education, healthcare services and social protection should continue to be strengthened in tandem.

Through these policies, the Jakarta Provincial Government aims to sustain basic services while expanding people’s opportunities to improve their quality of life.
