Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung invited a number of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet to use public transport in Jakarta. According to Pramono, Jakarta already has comfortable public transport services such as Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek. ‘We want to invite you all who have never tried Transjakarta or Transjabodetabek, you must try it and it is not inferior to major countries anywhere,’ said Pramono during the signing of a Joint Decree on a Pilot Programme for the Implementation of Integrated Services for Women and Children at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, 4 June 2026. The officials present at the event included: Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. In the transport sector, Pramono said Jakarta has recorded significant progress. The level of transport connectivity in Jakarta has now reached about 93 per cent. Jakarta’s public transport system, he said, is now ranked among the top 17 in the world. However, the number of residents using public transport in Jakarta is still only 28 per cent. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is still striving to increase public interest in using public transport to exceed 30 per cent. ‘If this target is achieved, Jakarta will increasingly develop as a city with a better transport system,’ he said. Pramono stated that affordable fares are a key factor encouraging the public to switch to public transport. The government has set the fare for Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek at Rp 3,500. Currently, Transjabodetabek already has 14 routes serving areas around Jakarta such as Bogor, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi. This policy aims to encourage more residents to switch to public transport. Additionally, public transport facilities in Jakarta are also child-friendly, women-friendly, and accessible for persons with disabilities. ‘This quality improvement in transport is part of our commitment to providing public services that are safe, comfortable, and easily accessible to the community.’
