Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo inspected the organic waste processing system at Kramat Jati Market, East Jakarta, as a follow-up to the waste sorting programme in the capital.

The organic waste processing represents a concrete step by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in implementing Governor’s Instruction No. 5 of 2026 on waste sorting in Jakarta.

“Today, as a follow-up to the waste sorting programme that we launched previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through Pasar Jaya will collaborate with communities concerned about waste management, particularly organic and inorganic waste,” Pramono said at Kramat Jati Market on Monday.

He emphasised that collaboration between Pasar Jaya, the community, and the private sector is the key to handling the large volume of waste that has burdened the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST).

The waste processing system at Kramat Jati Market will eventually manage around five tonnes of waste every day.

With synergy involving the private sector and Pupuk Indonesia, the results of the waste processing will be utilised for landscaping and turned into products with practical value.

Pramono stated that similar waste processing systems will be implemented in all markets, whether managed or not by Pasar Jaya.

“We will treat them the same, whether Pasar Jaya or non-Pasar Jaya; they remain responsible for waste management through sorting at their markets,” Pramono explained.
