Pramono Furious Over JAKI Report Response with AI Photo: Whoever is Wrong, Punish Them
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, will immediately take firm action regarding citizen complaints on the JAKI app that are followed up with edited photos or Artificial Intelligence (AI). He has instructed the Inspectorate to investigate the alleged violations involving local government apparatus. “Regarding the AI issue on JAKI. I have asked the Inspectorate to check whether it was the lurah, the lurah in Kalisari or the deputy head of the sub-directorate,” said Pramono at Pasar Gardu Asem, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/4). Pramono assured that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will not tolerate manipulative actions in public services. He emphasised that parties proven to have manipulated follow-up reports will be immediately sanctioned to maintain the principle of public openness. “Whoever is wrong must be punished and this must not happen again. Because for the Jakarta Government, transparency is very important,” Pramono stressed. In resolving public complaints in the field, Pramono prioritises and values the honesty of his apparatus regarding the progress of handling issues. He views falsifying complaint resolutions using AI as equivalent to directly lying to Jakarta residents. “It’s better, for example, to say it’s not finished yet rather than using AI, which essentially is deceiving, and I have asked the Inspectorate to impose sanctions for that,” said Pramono. The initial citizen report highlighted the problem of illegal parking in one of the housing complexes in the East Jakarta area. In the attached complaint photo, a row of cars parked freely on the roadside shoulder is visible, along with an officer in orange clothing standing at the location. However, anomalies appeared in the follow-up evidence photo on the JAKI app. Although the row of cars appeared to have disappeared, the camera angle remained completely unchanged. Additionally, there were unnatural details in the officer’s clothing in that photo. This series of anomalies has triggered suspicions that the relevant parties manipulated the problem resolution using AI-generated photos.
