Pramono Doubts PPSU Officers Involved in AI-Manipulated Photo Case on JAKI
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that his office is still investigating who is responsible for the upload of an AI-based manipulated photo that appeared in one of the citizen reports through the JAKI application in the East Jakarta area.
Pramono emphasised that PPSU (Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling) officers are not the appropriate party to be scapegoated.
He assessed that it is unlikely that field officers were directly involved in the AI technology manipulation.
“If we then blame the PPSU, that won’t work either; the PPSU personnel certainly aren’t the ones who did or manipulated the AI,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
“What I have asked to be thoroughly investigated is to find out who did the AI part and who uploaded it,” Pramono stated.
Although the Kalisari Ward Head has issued an apology for the incident, Pramono assured that the examination process will continue.
“Even though the Ward Head has apologised, I still ask the Inspectorate to delve into this matter,” he said.
Pramono believes that as the investigation progresses, the perpetrator will eventually be uncovered.
“Now the Inspectorate is conducting an in-depth investigation into the Kalisari Ward Head, the PPSU, and the District Office. Everything will be revealed in due time,” Pramono remarked.
The PPSU officer who uploaded the content has been given a first warning sanction (SP1) and asked not to repeat the action.
“The officer in question has been given an SP1 and made a statement not to repeat the action,” said Siti in an official statement on Monday (6/4/2026).
Siti explained that at the time, the PPSU officer was following up on a community report regarding illegal parking that came through JAKI.
However, in the process, the officer uploaded a photo suspected to be the result of manipulation.
