Jakarta - Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo is optimistic that the fuel needs for the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant (PLTSa) can be met by utilising the waste stock at the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) Bantargebang through the cut and fill (dig and backfill) method.

According to Pramono, the issue of waste shortage could potentially become a problem in the future. However, he believes the stock at Bantargebang will suffice for the PLTSa needs.

“Do not let Jakarta face a shortage (of waste as fuel) for the PLTSa in the future. That would pose a separate problem. But I am confident that because we have the stock at Bantargebang, we will prioritise the cut and fill method for operations in Bantargebang,” Pramono said in East Jakarta on Tuesday.

He stated that the cut and fill method is also being implemented to address the piled-up waste at Bantargebang.

Previously, during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on accelerating the construction of waste-to-electricity energy facilities (PSEL) or PLTSa between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Danantara, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan highlighted the waste stock issue.

He also revealed that the PLTSa construction is a follow-up to the firm directive from President Prabowo Subianto, who does not want landslides to recur at Bantargebang.

“Jakarta is indeed special; there is no other like it, only Jakarta, because it received extraordinary attention from the President. Next week, there will be the second batch. We will have 11 provinces: Yogyakarta, DKI Jakarta is already included, Lampung, Serang, Semarang, Surabaya, Bekasi, Medan, Tangerang, Greater Bogor, next week,” Zulkifli explained.

He also appreciated DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung for responding to President Prabowo’s directive. According to Zulkifli, this response proves that Jakarta is taking concrete actions to address waste issues.
