Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has affirmed that his administration consistently gives full attention to flooding incidents in the capital. Most recently, Pramono said that flooding which had inundated Jalan DI Panjaitan and Jalan Daan Mogot has now been dealt with.

“I’ve been handling the flooding since early this morning. But it didn’t last very long — no more than one and a half to two hours — and almost all roads were already dry,” Pramono told reporters in Semanggi, South Jakarta, on Friday (20/2/2026).

He said that all roads in Jakarta had receded from flooding on the day, including Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jalan Daan Mogot, and Pesing.

“So if you ask me about today, right now, all roads — including DI Panjaitan, Daan Mogot, Pesing, and so on — are all free from flooding. Because I personally monitor these matters closely,” he said.

Weather Modification to Prevent Flooding

Pramono said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government always anticipates all eventualities. Every day, he noted, the provincial government receives data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

“Every day we make decisions — whether or not people are aware of it — and in fact on several occasions, when weather modification is deemed necessary, we carry it out. Like today, whether it was needed or not, because the rainfall since last night was actually quite heavy,” he explained.

Pramono said weather modification is conducted based on BMKG data. When rainfall is heavy, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will carry out weather modification.

“We no longer need to announce that it needs to be done. What matters is that right now, the weather in Jakarta and its surroundings — not just in Jakarta — if the rainfall is heavy, weather modification must be carried out whether we like it or not,” he said.

“The bottom line is, if BMKG indicates that rainfall is likely to exceed 200 millimetres per day, we will definitely carry out weather modification,” he concluded.
