JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that relations between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) and labourers are running well.

Pramono said he is often asked about relations with labourers, which are considered to remain conducive.

He conveyed this while attending the School Committee Communication Forum (FKKS) at the Jakarta East City Hall Office on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

“Even I get questions from many of my friends, ‘How come relations with labourers in Jakarta are fine?’ How could they not be fine when I have friends like him (labour representative),” said Pramono on Tuesday.

In fact, he often receives direct complaints from them, including about the difficulty of meeting department heads.

“Sometimes they complain to me, ‘Is it hard to meet the department head?’ I’m the one they complain to,” he continued.

According to Pramono, the calm condition is also evident in the determination of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in Jakarta.

He said the process ran smoothly without much turmoil in Jakarta.

“Alhamdulillah, matters related to labourers, because he is a main labour figure, Jakarta was a space for communication and discussion to determine the UMP wage at that time, which was the most peaceful and serene. The most peaceful and serene,” he said.

He also touched on labour demonstration actions that often occur in Jakarta.

According to Pramono, Jakarta is often chosen as a demonstration location because of its status as the state capital and government centre, including the presence of the Presidential Palace.

“Even if there is a demo, actually it’s not Jakarta that’s being protested, but other regions using it because it’s the National Capital and the Palace is in Jakarta,” said Pramono.
