Pramono Bans Return of Sensitive Advertisements Like "I Must Die" in Jakarta
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has banned the installation of advertisements with sensitive content, such as promotions for the film “Aku Harus Mati”, from reappearing in public spaces. He emphasised that such advertisements must not recur because they have the potential to negatively impact society, especially when displayed in public areas. “Things like this are only meant to attract the public and then post sensitive advertisements that affect society, so this must not happen again,” Pramono stated when met in Central Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026). “In the field, we have already coordinated with the Jakarta Broadcasting Commission (KPI) and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), including advertising agencies, and those billboards have been taken down,” Pramono added. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Provincial Government has taken action against three billboard locations. The sites are on Jalan Puri Kembangan and Jalan Daan Mogot Km 11 in West Jakarta, as well as at the Harmoni Intersection Police Post in Central Jakarta. Previously, the promotional material for this film had drawn widespread criticism. The billboard reading “AKU HARUS MATI” with visuals of red eyes was considered inappropriate for public spaces. Several netizens assessed that the advertisement could impact children who do not yet understand the film’s context.
