Pramono Bans DKI Civil Servants from WFH in Cafes: Sanctions Guaranteed
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has issued an ultimatum to its civil servants (ASN) not to misuse the Work From Home (WFH) facility implemented every Friday. In its implementation, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised a strict ban on employees caught working from entertainment venues or cafes (Work From Cafe/WFC). “Regarding work from cafe or anywhere else, if that happens, there will definitely be firm sanction actions for it,” Pramono stated at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (1/4). Pramono assured that he would not take the enforcement of discipline lightly. He issued a firm statement with a satirical tone as a warning. “If caught, they will be destroyed,” Pramono said. This WFH policy is a direct follow-up to the central government’s decision regulating the ASN work schedule. Pramono explained that the policy at the regional level is solely to align with the rules established nationally. “Friday is a central government decision. The Jakarta Provincial Government will certainly follow what has become the central government decision, and that has already become a decision,” Pramono clarified. Furthermore, supervision of ASN performance will be carried out strictly through an online attendance system, while also limiting the mobility of private vehicles. Pramono reminded that this WFH facility demands full responsibility from employees to remain at their respective residences. “Anyone who receives the work from home facility must not use individual transport facilities, whether motorbikes, cars, or the like,” Pramono said. “If they want to travel, they must use public transport. That is regulated in the Governor’s Circular that will be issued,” he added. Previously, the government implemented work from home or WFH for ASN one day a week every Friday for energy efficiency in facing global conflicts. The government also limited the use of official cars and encouraged the use of public transport. Not only that, the government also limited domestic official travel by 50 percent and foreign travel by 70 percent.
