Pram Requests Investigation into Creator and Uploader of AI Photo to JAKI: PPSU Cannot Be Blamed
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that, regarding the use of an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated photo in a report on the crackdown on illegal parking in the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app, PPSU cannot be entirely blamed. He emphasised that he has asked the DKI Inspectorate to thoroughly investigate the case.
“The Inspectorate is conducting an in-depth investigation into the Lurah of Kalisari, the PPSU staff, and the Sub-District Office. Everything will eventually come to light,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Pramono assessed that it is inappropriate to directly attribute the fault to the PPSU officers. This is because they are not considered the parties who created or manipulated the photo.
“If we then blame the PPSU as well, we can’t. The PPSU staff are definitely not the ones who did or manipulated the AI,” he stated.
He emphasised that the main focus of the investigation is to uncover who created the AI image and who uploaded it to the system.
“What I have requested to be investigated in depth is to find out who did the AI, and then who uploaded it,” he asserted.
Previously, the Lurah of Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Siti Nurhasanah, spoke out and expressed an apology for the incident.
She assured that the Penanganan Prasarana dan Sarana Umum (PPSU) officer who uploaded the photo has been sanctioned with a first warning letter (SP1).
“We apologise profusely for this incident. This serves as a lesson for us to ensure it does not happen again in the future. The officer in question has been given an SP1 and has made a statement not to repeat the action,” Siti said in a statement on Monday (6/4).
Siti explained that the PPSU officer was following up on a public report regarding illegal parking that came through the JAKI app. However, in the process, the officer uploaded an AI-generated photo pretending that the location had been cleared and was free of illegal parking.
“This action then went viral on social media. I have asked that in the future, if there are any issues or obstacles in the field, they should immediately report them so solutions can be found,” she clarified.
