President Prabowo Subianto is encouraging business actors from Japan to increase the value of their investments in the country. This call was made at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday, 30 March 2026.

According to Kompas, Indonesia is affirmed as a nation that is always open to global economic cooperation. The government continues to strive to strengthen strategic partnerships with various international parties to support national growth.

“Indonesia, as you know, is a country open to the world. Geographically and historically, Indonesia is an open economy. We rely on trade and close economic partnerships,” said Prabowo.

The principle of non-aligned foreign policy remains the main foundation for Indonesia in establishing diplomatic relations. This allows Indonesia to have many cooperation partners without having to be involved in certain interest conflicts.

“Our philosophy is: a thousand friends is still too few, one enemy is too many,” said President Prabowo, quoting an official statement from the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom).

The stability of Indonesia’s position amid global geopolitical turmoil is considered a result of this diplomatic approach. The government is now focusing on a major reform agenda to improve governance and economic transformation.

This reform step aims to create a more transparent and accountable government system. The President emphasised the importance of the rule of law to build a modern and rational society in the nation.

“We want our partners to know that Indonesia is determined to carry out real reforms. We want to create a modern and rational society. We want to uphold the rule of law,” stated the Head of State.

In the economic sector, downstream and industrialisation strategies become the main priority of national development. Indonesia is committed to no longer exporting natural resources in raw form without further processing.

“We must secure the highest economic value from our resources. We can no longer be satisfied with just exporting raw materials without added value,” Prabowo revealed in front of the businesspeople.

In addition to industrial transformation, accelerating the development of renewable energy and electric vehicles is also a government focus. The manufacturing sector and digital economy continue to be promoted as drivers of the future economy.

Commitment to environmental conservation is also demonstrated through massive forest reforestation programmes. The President considers the restoration of damaged forest areas very important for global ecosystem balance, not just for Indonesia.

“Forests that have been destroyed must be reforested on a large scale. Not only for Indonesia’s good, but also for the world’s good,” he stressed regarding environmental issues.

Ambitious targets in the energy transition were also outlined, particularly regarding the utilisation of solar power. The government projects achieving electricity capacity of up to 100 gigawatts from solar energy within the next three years.
