President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to depart for Russia tomorrow. Prabowo will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The departure is this week, within this week,” said Foreign Minister Sugiono, quoted from detikNews on Saturday (11/4/2025). The meeting between the two national leaders will discuss several strategic issues, particularly related to global geopolitical dynamics and the energy sector. “He will meet with President Putin and will also discuss world geopolitics and certainly the energy situation,” Sugiono stated. Sugiono emphasised that energy issues, including oil, will be one of the important topics to be discussed. According to him, this matter has strategic value for Indonesia’s national interests. “One of the things he will discuss is (about oil), because this is something that is very strategic in nature for the Indonesian nation,” he concluded. As is known, two Indonesian tankers have yet to receive permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The two ships belong to Pertamina’s subsidiary, PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), namely Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the government is still continuously engaging in diplomatic communications with relevant authorities in Iran. “We are still communicating continuously,” Bahlil said, quoted from detikFinance on Friday (10/4). Bahlil previously mentioned a glimmer of hope amid the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. He hopes that in the next two weeks, the two Pertamina ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. “With the easing of the two-week escalation pause in the Middle East, hopefully it can be resolved,” Bahlil said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4).
