President Prabowo Subianto is set to meet business leaders during his visit to the United States this week. Prabowo arrived in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, to attend a series of state engagements.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat, Prabowo was scheduled to hold meetings on the evening of his arrival. “Including several meetings with US government officials and business leaders,” the Cabinet Secretariat stated.

Prabowo’s meetings with American business leaders will focus on strategic cooperation across various economic sectors. These discussions are also taking place amid ongoing trade negotiations and agreements between Indonesia and the US.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Prabowo would hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump during the visit. “This visit is part of President Prabowo’s proactive direct diplomacy efforts to strengthen economic supply chains and domestic industrial productivity,” Teddy said in a written statement in the early hours of Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

Prabowo is accompanied on this visit by Teddy and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. Upon arriving at Andrews Military Base, Prabowo and his entourage proceeded directly to their hotel in Washington D.C.

Upon arriving at the hotel, President Prabowo was greeted by hundreds of Indonesian diaspora members comprising students, workers, and Indonesian citizens residing in and around Washington D.C.

Prabowo is expected to sign a trade agreement with President Donald Trump during this visit. The two leaders will sign the final document of the reciprocal trade negotiations, known as the Agreements on Reciprocal Trade (ART), at their meeting.

A number of substantive points from the negotiation document have been agreed upon and are undergoing legal drafting harmonisation. Under the framework of the agreement, Indonesia has committed to eliminating import duties on the majority of products originating from the United States.

In return, the US will reduce reciprocal tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 per cent to 19 per cent. The US has also committed to granting tariff exemptions for several of Indonesia’s key export commodities, including crude palm oil (CPO), coffee, and cocoa. These tariff exemptions apply to Indonesian export products that cannot be produced domestically in the US.

In addition, Prabowo is scheduled to attend the inaugural summit of the Board of Peace, a shadow United Nations organisation established by US President Donald Trump. When the Board of Peace was formed on 22 January 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, Prabowo signed the organisation’s charter.

Now, less than a month after its establishment, heads of state who are members of the Board of Peace will convene for the first summit at the Institute of Peace in Washington on Thursday, 19 February 2026. The gathering is intended to advance the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and to raise funds for the reconstruction of war-affected Palestinian territories.
