Prabowo to Japanese Businesspeople: Report to Me If There Are Any Problems
President Prabowo Subianto attended the Japan-Indonesia Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan. During his speech at the event, Prabowo advised Japanese businesspeople that they could report directly to him if they encountered any problems while doing business in Indonesia.
In his speech, Prabowo sought to convey Indonesia’s commitment to safeguarding investors. “If you have any problems, you can complain directly to me,” said Prabowo in Tokyo on Monday, 30 March 2026, as broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.
According to Prabowo, Japanese businesspeople could complain directly to him or through intermediaries, such as embassies or business association representatives. “I am willing to receive complaints,” stated the Chairman General of the Gerindra Party.
According to Prabowo, the government has also established a task force responsible for eliminating investment barriers or the de-bottlenecking task force. This task force handles business issues, including administrative delays to practices that harm investors.
Prabowo stated that any company, whether foreign or domestic, could report to the task force. “Those who feel they are facing delays, administrative barriers, and so on, or experiencing exploitation or improper treatment, can directly contact this barrier removal task force,” he said.
In addition, Prabowo reaffirmed his government’s commitment to maintaining the trust of foreign investors. He boasted of Indonesia’s reputation, which he described as never having experienced a debt default throughout its history.
According to Prabowo, this reputation is Indonesia’s capital to attract investment amid global uncertainties. “Our reputation is very clear; this is not a reputation of 5, 10, or 15 years. For decades, Indonesia has been known never to default, not once in the history of the Republic of Indonesia,” he stated.
The business forum with President Prabowo in Tokyo was organised jointly by the Japan External Trade Organization or JETRO; Keidanren; Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Before visiting the business forum, Prabowo first paid a visit to the Imperial Palace of Japan. Prabowo met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and his crown prince, Fumihito, at the palace located in Tokyo. In Japan, President Prabowo is also scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
