Prabowo to Attend International Labour Day 2026 and Inaugurate Marsinah Museum
Jakarta – President of the Indonesian Confederation of All-Indonesia Worker Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea stated that President Prabowo Subianto is planned to attend International Labour Day celebrations on 1 May 2026, to be held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta.
Beyond this, Prabowo is also reported to have expressed his willingness to inaugurate the museum of women labour figure Marsinah in Nganjuk, East Java.
“Regarding May Day, we also invited Mr Prabowo. May Day will still be held as planned at Monas. Then on 2 May, Mr President has graciously agreed to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java,” said Andi Gani following a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra faction Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the DPR building on Tuesday (3 March 2025).
During the meeting, the parties also raised the issue of importing pickup trucks from India for the Red and White Village Cooperative.
According to Andi Gani, Dasco explained that the related company would open substantial investment in Indonesia.
“We also discussed the issue of Indian pickups, and he explained that the company in question will be opening quite significant investment in Indonesia and there are several clarifications that the government will explain directly later,” he said.
“Regarding public hearings, Mr Dasco will push for Commission IX to quickly involve all stakeholders, actively inviting both workers and business owners so there is balance,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dasco revealed that the general hearing (RDPU) related to the Domestic Workers Protection Bill would be continued on 5 March 2025.
As for the Labour Law Bill, it will begin after Eid al-Fitr 2026.
“Yes, so indeed on 5 March we will begin public hearings for the Domestic Workers Protection Bill and after Eid al-Fitr we will include the Labour Law in our regular public hearings as these also discuss sensitive issues and must be agreed upon by all parties, so we will hold them periodically,” said Dasco at the DPR building.
