Prabowo Subianto Urges Japanese Businesspeople to Report Investment Obstacles Directly
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has instructed businesspeople from Japan to promptly report any form of investment obstacles in Indonesia directly to him. This commitment was conveyed at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday, 30 March 2026, as an effort to create a responsive investment climate with legal certainty, as reported by Money. “If you have any problems, you can complain directly to me,” stated Prabowo Subianto in his official remarks. The President expressed openness to receiving complaints through various official channels, from ambassadors and company representatives to organisations such as MITI, JETRO, and Keidanren. This step reflects the proactive leadership approach adopted by Prabowo to effectively resolve on-the-ground issues. He likened the role of a modern president to that of a national CEO, who is required to respond to and resolve problems at high speed. “A modern president is essentially the CEO of this country. He must be able to identify problems very quickly and resolve them very quickly,” said Prabowo. To support this efficiency, the government has established a special task force or de-bottlenecking task force focused on eliminating administrative bottlenecks for investors. This task force has the mandate to address various issues, including delays in bureaucratic procedures and practices that harm investors in the country. “Any company in Indonesia, whether foreign or domestic, that feels it is facing delays, administrative obstacles, and so on, or is experiencing exploitation, can contact this task force directly,” he said. The Indonesian government is currently focusing on a deregulation agenda and simplifying various regulations deemed irrational and obstructive to capital inflows. This effort is aimed at boosting national economic growth amid global competition that demands time efficiency in every strategic decision-making process. Prabowo reminded that in the modern economic landscape, time is a crucial factor that cannot be bargained or negotiated by any party. “We cannot buy time. We cannot negotiate with time. We can only utilise time efficiently,” said President Prabowo. At the forum, he also invited Japanese business actors to strengthen partnerships by combining Japan’s technological advantages with Indonesia’s market potential and resources. “Enhancing the Indonesia-Japan economic partnership agreement will open new opportunities. This is the right time to deepen our cooperation,” said Prabowo.
