Prabowo Sets 5% RoA Target for Danantara: Leadership Still Has Far to Go
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has set a Return on Asset (RoA) target for the Investment Management Board (BPI) Danantara at above 5%. According to Prabowo, a good company should maintain a minimum RoA of 10%.
Prabowo stated that Danantara’s current Return on Asset has increased 300% compared to previous years, but remains far from the expected target.
“This is still far from our goal. Gentlemen, a good company’s return on asset should be a minimum of 10%. If it’s good, 12%; if it’s excellent, 15%. We should have a good target of 10%. But we understand that it may not be achievable in the first years,” Prabowo said at the one-year commemoration of Danantara on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
Prabowo noted that Danantara’s current RoA stands at 5%, falling short of targets. With state-owned enterprise assets valued at USD 1 trillion, SOEs should generate an RoA of up to USD 50 billion.
“If only a 5% Return on Asset is achieved, it means Danantara should return USD 50 billion to the state annually—USD 50 billion is equivalent to IDR 800 trillion. So Danantara leadership, your target is still far away,” Prabowo said.
“But that’s all right, I am confident and believe that the key to good management is in the heart and soul. That is why in the first year I express gratitude and congratulate you all on your achievements, but I remind you that the target is still quite far. You must be able to provide a minimum 5% return to the state, a minimum of USD 50 billion,” he added.
During the occasion, Prabowo also acknowledged receiving positive reports regarding Danantara’s performance throughout 2025.
“I received a report and I am quite pleased that the return on asset for 2025 compared to previous years has increased by more than 300 per cent. This is quite good. And this proves our premise for establishing Danantara. That it is impossible to have good management if it is not under one control, in one hand, under one management,” Prabowo said.
“It is impossible for us to manage 250 companies. In fact, I only just found out it is not 250, but more than 1,000 companies. There is no management lesson anywhere in the world where one management can manage 1,000 entities,” added the chairman of the Indonesian Great Movement Party.
