Prabowo Scheduled to Attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines

The attendance of Prabowo at the summit was revealed by the Head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aris Marsudiyanto. However, he did not yet explain the specific matters that Prabowo will bring to the event. “Oh yes, that will probably be explained later by the Cabinet Secretary or the Foreign Minister. But it seems that he will likely attend as well because it is important in nature. But in detail, it will be explained by the relevant ministers, or by the President himself,” Aris said to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Aris assessed that Prabowo’s presence would not overlook discussions on cooperation with ASEAN countries, including the latest conditions of global dynamics. “Oh certainly (there will be cooperation agreements), various geopolitical and geo-economic matters will definitely be discussed,” he stated. It is known that the 48th ASEAN Summit will be opened on Friday, 8 May 2026. The agenda will be preceded by senior officials’ meetings on 6-7 May 2026.
