JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has described the Environment and Education-Based Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas, Central Java, as a very good breakthrough.

Prabowo assessed that the waste processing site could serve as an example for other regions.

“So I think this is very effective as an example for many provinces, many districts, even other countries have come here,” said Prabowo after inspecting TPST BLE in Banyumas, Central Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Prabowo also said he received a report from the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, that many regions are also using TPST.

“So I also got a report from the Governor of Central Java that many districts have followed suit, 13 of them, so from the central government we will encourage it and I will allocate direct assistance to develop it, improve it, and make it more effective,” he stated.

“The regent’s promise for 2028, by the end of 2028 zero waste,” he added.

The Head of State also pledged to develop this TPST in various other regions, including Jakarta.

Prabowo wants Indonesia to be able to manage waste within the next two years.

“We will develop all of them, waste processing is now a national priority, within two or three years we must control waste across all of Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo appreciated the TPST BLE Banyumas, which is capable of producing recycled products such as plastic roof tiles to paving blocks.

According to him, these recycled products can be incorporated into the government’s housing improvement programme.

Furthermore, Prabowo wants to eliminate the use of rusty corrugated iron as roofs for houses in Indonesia.

“Rusty ones will eventually be unhealthy for the inhabitants and the view is also not good. We will restore Indonesia to become a truly beautiful Indonesia, so that tourism is good and we are comfortable living there,” he said.
