Prabowo returns to Jakarta with four agreements with France worth US$3.5 million
President Prabowo Subianto concluded his official state visit to France on Friday, 29 May 2026. He departed from Orly Airport in Paris with a small delegation heading to Jakarta.
Leading the reception for the President on the red carpet were France’s Minister for Francophonie, International Partnerships and Citizens Abroad, Eléonore Caroit, and Military Governor of Paris General Loïc Mizon. The farewell ceremony was conducted with solemnity as a mark of respect by the French Republic to the Indonesian Head of State.
At the aircraft steps, President Prabowo was also farewelled by several officials, including French Ambassador to Indonesia Fabien Penone, Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohamad Oemar, and Indonesian Defence Attaché in Paris Air Vice Marshal Hendra Gunawan.
During his stay in Paris, President Prabowo undertook several key engagements to strengthen Indonesia-France bilateral relations.
The state visit underscored Indonesia’s commitment to active diplomacy and expanding strategic cooperation with European partner nations.
Meanwhile, Minister for Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM Chief Rosan Roeslani welcomed the launch of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council as a strategic step to bolster economic ties between the two countries and accelerate investment and trade realisation.
The high-level business council was launched on 28 May 2026 in the presence of President Prabowo and French President Emmanuel Macron during the official state visit.
‘Establishing the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council marks a significant milestone in strengthening the economic partnership between the two nations. This forum serves not only as a platform for business dialogue but also as a driving force to promote investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for both countries,’ said Rosan.
The business forum brought together 30 leading industrial and corporate leaders from Indonesia and France with a combined market capitalisation of US$1.3 trillion. The council is co-chaired by MEDEF International’s Chair of the France-Indonesia Business Council and Danone CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique, along with KADIN Indonesia’s Chairman Anindya Bakrie.
