Prabowo Returns from France with Rp61.25 Trillion in Deals
President Prabowo Subianto has returned home after completing a state visit to France. The aircraft carrying him landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday, 30 May at 9:50am WIB. Upon arrival, he was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita.
The state visit yielded significant achievements in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and France, with both countries enhancing cooperation across strategic sectors including economy, investment, trade, and defence.
A key outcome was the launch of the France–Indonesia High Level Business Council, a forum bringing together business leaders from both nations. The forum secured four new commercial agreements worth a total of $3.5 billion, or approximately Rp61.25 trillion at an exchange rate of Rp17,500 per US dollar.
The agreements focus on energy security, trade, and defence cooperation, expected to expand economic collaboration opportunities between Indonesia and France.
Key Milestone in Strengthening Indonesia-France Relations
Investment and Hilirisation Minister and BKPM Head Rosan Roeslani welcomed the establishment of the high-level business council, stating it marks a key milestone in strengthening economic ties between the two countries and unlocking mutually beneficial investment and trade opportunities.
The council’s inauguration took place on 28 May 2026, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron.
“This forum is not only a platform for business dialogue but also a driver for promoting investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for both nations,” said Rosan in a written statement released by the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information.
The forum brought together 30 leading company executives and industry players from Indonesia and France, with a combined market capitalisation of $1.3 trillion.
The council is co-chaired by MEDEF International’s Chair of the France–Indonesia Business Council and Danone CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique, alongside Kadin Indonesia’s Chairman Anindya Bakrie.
Rosan said the council’s launch signals growing French business confidence in Indonesia, adding that the four agreements demonstrate Indonesia’s status as a strategic partner with strong long-term growth prospects.
“French business confidence in Indonesia continues to rise. The agreements show Indonesia is viewed as a strategic partner with strong long-term growth prospects and an increasingly competitive investment climate,” Rosan added.
