Prabowo Requests Special Hajj Terminal for Indonesia in Saudi Arabia
JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto has requested permission from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide a dedicated terminal at the country’s airports for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. This is intended to make the entry and exit flow of Allah’s guests faster and more efficient.
“I have requested permission from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia so that Indonesia can have a special Hajj terminal. So, that terminal will be exclusively for our Hajj pilgrims to enable quicker entry and exit,” said Prabowo during a Government Working Meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
The President also stated that starting this year, the waiting period for Hajj in Indonesia is at most 26 years, reduced from the previous 48 years.
“I will strive to make it even shorter,” said the President.
He also inquired about the progress of the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca from Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, as well as representatives from Danantara, including COO Dony Oskaria and CTO Sigit P. Santosa.
The three reported that the Indonesian Government through Danantara has secured 45 hectares of land for the construction of the Indonesian Hajj Village.
“We will build the Indonesian Hajj village, with several towers that can accommodate Indonesian Hajj pilgrims,” said the President.
On the same occasion, regarding Hajj cost efficiency, the President also summoned the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Glenny Kairupan, and requested a report on the follow-up to the instruction to form a joint venture between Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines, Saudi Arabia’s national carrier.
Prabowo explained that the joint venture could help Indonesia reduce Hajj costs while providing benefits to the national airlines of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
