Prabowo Receives Reports of Irregularities in Free Nutritious Meal Programme, Immediately Summons Heads of PPATK and BPKP
President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that he recently received reports regarding various irregularities and indications of misappropriation in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which is managed through the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
In response to these reports, Prabowo stated that he immediately summoned several relevant officials, including the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK). This was disclosed during the ‘Building Indonesia’s Future Generations Through Nutrition’ event held at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC), Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
“I have indeed received reports for some time now regarding deficiencies, irregularities, and indications of misappropriation from leadership,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo emphasised that leadership plays a critical role in influencing the work culture and the success of an organisation. “A good leader results in a good organisation. A bad leader results in a bad organisation, especially if the leader is improper, incompetent, or dishonest,” he added.
Prabability recounted that upon receiving the reports, he immediately summoned the Head of BPKP, Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, and the Head of PPATK, Ivan Yustiavandana, along with several other officials. He instructed them by saying: “Please, I have received reports regarding the BGN. This BGN programme is extremely important for the nation and the state, involving our people who are in need of affirmative and supportive assistance.”
Prabowo noted that the MBG programme is widely utilised by developed nations to reduce poverty, specifically to improve the nutrition of children who represent the nation’s future generations. He asserted that if the programme succeeds, it will trigger significant economic progress. According to Prabowo, a successful MBG programme will revitalise rural economies and increase farmers’ incomes, as they will no longer be exploited by middlemen and will have guaranteed markets for their produce, allowing them to lead better lives.
