Prabowo Proud Indonesia Can Export Fertiliser to Other Countries
President Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia can export fertiliser to other countries, noting that many nations are seeking help with fertilisers because Indonesian production is more than sufficient to meet domestic demand. He spoke in a speech to the plenary session presenting the Macro Economy Framework (KEM) and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (PPKF) for the 2027 Draft State Budget (RAPBN 2027) on Wednesday (20 May 2026). He named Australia, Brazil, India and the Philippines as examples of countries requesting fertiliser exports directly in the forum. He warned that the ability to export fertiliser should not breed arrogance; instead, it should be used to increase confidence. “There are still many shortcomings, and I am someone who always invites us to be brave in facing our shortcomings. We must be bold to face difficulties. We must be brave to face challenges,” he said. Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman had previously signalled this export potential. “This shows Indonesia is increasingly trusted and relied upon in maintaining regional food stability,” the minister said in Jakarta, cited by ANTARA on Saturday 16 May 2026. Amran said he received a direct call from Australia’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Julie Collins MP, who expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s support in supplying fertiliser. The Australian minister said Indonesia’s fertiliser supply helped Australia amid disruptions to supply chains caused by global geopolitical pressures, Amran added.
