President Prabowo Subianto visited the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (16/5). In his speech, President Prabowo expressed his concern over the tragic murder of Marsinah in the past. According to him, this event should not have happened if the values of Pancasila and the constitution were implemented purely and consistently.

“Indeed, the event of Marsinah being brutally murdered for fighting for the rights of factory workers should not have happened at all because our country was founded on the basic philosophy of Pancasila,” said President Prabowo, as monitored from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

Prabowo gave special emphasis to the role of security forces. He reminded that the TNI, Polri, and the bureaucracy are fully funded by the people, so their main mandate is to protect the people, not the other way around.

In addition to security forces, Prabowo also mentioned the behavior of some business actors who only pursue large profits by ignoring human values. He believes that this practice contradicts the spirit of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, which emphasizes the principle of kinship.

As a long-term solution, Prabowo invited entrepreneurs to build the spirit of Indonesia Incorporated. This concept views the country as a large corporation where all people are shareholders.

“All the people of Indonesia are shareholders in all the wealth of the nation. All people are entitled to this wealth, and all leaders are responsible for fighting for the welfare of the community with all their strength and courage,” he said.

The designation of Marsinah as a National Hero is a follow-up to proposals from various labor organizations. Prabowo said he felt honored to be able to give the highest state recognition to the figure who became a symbol of the struggle for workers’ rights in Indonesia. (Ant/H-4)
