President Prabowo Subianto received the Joint Team for Drafting the One Data Indonesia Bill at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (29 October).

Prabowo said data sovereignty was a key foundation for safeguarding national unity amid accelerating digitalisation.

“Mr President stressed that data sovereignty is a key foundation for safeguarding national unity amid the tide of digitalisation,” the Cabinet Secretariat said in a post on its social media account, @sekretariat.kabinet.

The meeting discussed strengthening national data governance through the drafting of the One Data Indonesia Bill, with participation from the DPR, academics, and relevant ministries and agencies.

The Cabinet Secretariat said national data integration was expected to support more accurate public services while strengthening the security of information exchange.

“Data integration is expected to support more accurate public services, as well as strengthen the security of information exchange and cyber resilience,” it said.

The bill is also intended to establish national data governance that is integrated, secure and accountable.
