President Prabowo Subianto has invited American businesses to invest and do business in Indonesia.

The invitation was delivered during a meeting with the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC), the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), and the US-Indonesia Society (USINDO) at the USCC building in Washington DC on Wednesday afternoon (18 February 2026) local time.

At the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), several ministers, and senior state-owned enterprise officials, Prabowo outlined a number of priority programmes currently being implemented by the government, particularly 18 downstream processing projects.

Prabowo also set out Indonesia’s success in maintaining stability across various sectors, from the economy to politics, and described reforms towards clean governance as well as strengthened law enforcement to combat corruption and cartels.

“We are open, we need investment, and we want more investment, and we believe we are competitive, we are attractive, and we have abundant mineral reserves needed for the production of new technologies,” Prabowo told prominent American business leaders at the Business Summit at the US Chamber of Commerce building in Washington DC.

“So please come to Indonesia, thank you,” Prabowo said as he closed his speech.

Among the topics raised were a reciprocal trade agreement that is set to be signed imminently, the conducive conditions for investment in Indonesia, and opportunities for cooperation including in energy and mineral resources, particularly rare earth mineral reserves.

The President also shared achievements from his first year in office, along with the government’s priority programmes.

“I have met with many US corporate leaders, even in my short time here. I am meeting with all of you now, and I feel very optimistic. We want US companies to be strategic partners,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo stated that successive Indonesian governments, including the current administration, have always endeavoured to be good hosts to investors.

“I think many long-standing players and those who participate in our economy will acknowledge that the Indonesian government, and I myself will continue that tradition: we always strive to protect investors. We always strive to be good hosts and to create a favourable climate for investors,” Prabowo said.
