Accompanied by a limited entourage, President Prabowo took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta on Sunday at 10:35 a.m. local time, according to an official statement.

Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi saw off the head of state, alongside Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed in a statement that the president is scheduled to carry out several key agenda items during the Japan state visit.

“President Prabowo will make a courtesy call on Japanese Emperor Naruhito, among other engagements,” he pointed out.

Wijaya added that the head of state is also scheduled to convene a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo to explore avenues for strategic cooperation across key sectors, such as investment, energy, maritime affairs, and digital development.

“After wrapping up his agenda in Japan, President Prabowo and his entourage are set to proceed to the Republic of Korea for further official engagements,” he concluded.

The planned series of state visits forms part of Indonesia’s broader ongoing diplomatic efforts to bolster its strategic presence and influence among regional partners in East Asia.

On his flight to Japan, President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Wijaya.
