Prabowo Departs for Moscow for One-on-One Talks with Putin, Here's What's on the Agenda
President Prabowo Subianto departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Sunday (12 April) late at night. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
“Just before midnight on Sunday, 12 April 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow, Russia, for a state visit to meet with the Russian President,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy, as quoted by Antara on Monday (13 April 2026).
The Cabinet Secretary continued that the flight to Moscow was non-stop, taking 12 hours using Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft PK-GIF.
“(The President, ed.) is expected to arrive on Monday morning Moscow time,” Teddy stated.
Upon arrival in Moscow, the Cabinet Secretary explained that President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Putin on Monday afternoon. In that one-on-one meeting, the two national leaders are scheduled to discuss several strategic issues, including energy resilience and global geopolitics.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy described the meeting between President Prabowo and President Putin in Moscow as crucial amid the continuously changing global dynamics.
“The two leaders will sit together to discuss strategic issues, including: energy resilience, continuing cooperation with the Russian Government, and ensuring stable national energy supplies, including oil availability,” he explained.
Meanwhile, regarding global geopolitics, he added, it involves voicing Indonesia’s strategic position in maintaining global stability and peace.
In several photos shared by the Cabinet Secretariat, President Prabowo’s departure for Moscow was seen off by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Head of the State Intelligence Agency M. Herindra, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.
President Prabowo’s visit to Russia this time marks his third after his second visit to Moscow on 10 December 2025, and his first visit to Saint Petersburg on 18-20 June 2025.
President Prabowo also met President Putin in Moscow in July 2024. In the first and second presidential visits, cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector was a highlight. At that time, Indonesia and Russia agreed to collaborate in new and renewable energy, as well as nuclear technology development.
