President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto called Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and several other ministers to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026).

Bahlil stated that his visit also served to report on global oil supply matters following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran.

“It possibly relates to current conditions, geopolitics, and the closure of Iran’s Strait of Hormuz, as this also involves anticipating global oil supply, since we continue to import oil before Ramadan,” Bahlil said at the Palace in Jakarta.

For context, Iran reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz in response to a combined attack by the United States and Israel.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will also hold a meeting on this matter together with Indonesia’s National Energy Council (DEN).

“Tomorrow, God willing, I will hold a meeting with the National Energy Council. We’ll meet first before I report,” he said.

Separately, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan also mentioned that discussions would likely address food security conditions following the Middle East conflict.

“Anticipating food security post-Middle East conflict. We’ll see. Let’s have the meeting first,” he said.

Israel was the first to confirm that it officially attacked Iran. Shortly thereafter, US President Donald Trump officially announced that the United States joined Israel in attacking Iran.

The Israel-America-Iran conflict was marked by missiles raining down on Tehran’s skies. Several rockets hit vital targets, including a residential area in Narmak, Tehran, where former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad resides.

Several US air bases that were attacked included Al-Udeid in Qatar, Al-Salem air base in Kuwait, Al-Dhafra air base in the United Arab Emirates, and the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
