Prabowo at Board of Peace Meeting: Indonesia Committed to Achieving Peace in Gaza
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a speech at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in the United States. Prabowo expressed his conviction that peace in Palestine would be achieved through the Board of Peace.
Prabowo began by stating that Indonesia had studied the working plan of the Board of Peace, established by US President Donald Trump, from the outset. He said Indonesia was in agreement with the plan.
“Indonesia, from day one, studied Trump’s 20-point plan. We fully agree, and we are fully committed to this plan,” Prabowo said during the meeting on Thursday (19 February 2026).
Prabowo said the plan was what convinced Indonesia to join the Board of Peace. He acknowledged that many challenges lay ahead.
“That is why we joined the Board of Peace. We are committed to its success. We know there will be many obstacles, there will be many difficulties,” Prabowo said.
Nevertheless, Prabowo expressed confidence that peace in Palestine would be realised through the Board of Peace. He expressed hope that a long-term peaceful solution could be achieved soon.
“We are very optimistic that under President Trump’s leadership, this vision of true peace will be achieved. There will be problems, but we will prevail. We will achieve our dream of peace in Palestine — peace, a lasting and peaceful solution for the Palestinian people and in Gaza,” he said.
Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia was also prepared to make a full contribution to maintaining peace in Gaza. He said the government was ready to deploy 8,000 troops or more to Gaza.
“The achievement of the ceasefire is real. We have ordered this, and therefore we reaffirm our commitment to contributing a substantial number of troops — up to 8,000 or more if necessary. We are ready to contribute forces to actively participate in an international stabilisation force to realise this peace,” Prabowo explained.
