Prabowo Arrives in Jakarta, Bringing Rp380 Trillion Commitment from Japan-South Korea
President Prabowo Subianto arrived at TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta in the early hours of Thursday, after completing a series of state visits to Japan and South Korea. The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the President and a limited entourage, including Teddy Indra Wijaya, landed around 00:01 WIB after taking off from Seongnam Military Air Base in Seoul on Wednesday (1/4) evening.
Upon arrival in Jakarta, the President was directly welcomed by Gibran Rakabuming Raka along with several state officials, including State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and BIN Chief M. Herindra.
President Prabowo then shook hands with the attending officials, including Garuda Indonesia President Director Glenny Kairupan and Presidential Security Command Commander Major General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha, before departing the location in the presidential vehicle.
During the visit to Japan from 29-31 March 2026, President Prabowo met Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo and held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Additionally, the President engaged in dialogue with Indonesian-Japanese business actors and witnessed the signing of various strategic cooperation agreements with a total value reaching 23.63 billion US dollars or approximately Rp380 trillion.
After Japan, the President continued his trip to Seoul, South Korea. There, he held a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the Presidential Blue House.
The meeting resulted in agreements to enhance cooperation in various sectors, from economy and defence to artificial intelligence (AI) development.
The two countries also witnessed the signing of 10 memorandums of understanding (MoU) covering comprehensive strategic dialogue, critical minerals partnership, digital development, and AI cooperation for health and human development.
Furthermore, cooperation included the clean energy sector, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, offshore power generation industry, intellectual property rights protection, and financial cooperation between Danantara and Exim Bank of Korea. This visit reaffirms Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its strategic position in the East Asia region through enhanced cross-border economic, technological, and investment cooperation.
