Prabowo Appoints Nanik S. Deyang to Lead National Nutrition Agency, Dasco: A Right Decision
President Prabowo Subianto has removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and appointed Nanik S. Deyang as his successor. According to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the appointment is a correct move.
According to Dasco, during her tenure as Deputy Head of the BGN, Nanik has been actively working in the field. She is also recognised for her extensive monitoring of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which included closing kitchens that failed to meet required standards.
“In our view, the President’s decision to appoint (Nanik S. Deyang)—while being the prerogative of the government, specifically the President—is likely the right choice,” Dasco stated at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Dasco expressed appreciation to the government for listening to the aspirations of the public and programme beneficiaries. He noted that this reshuffle follows evaluations and written feedback provided by Commission IX to the Minister of State Secretary. He expressed hope that this reshuffle would prompt a thorough evaluation of the BGN to improve its operations and continue serving beneficiaries.
“This change will certainly not affect the services currently underway, and our hope is that the service objectives, especially for the 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and least developed), can be realised promptly,” he added.
It was reported that the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, alongside the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, and the Head of the Government Communications Agency, M. Qodari, read the appointment decisions for three new BGN officials. Nanik S. Deyang has been appointed Head of the National Nutrition Agency, with Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono appointed as Deputy Heads of the Agency.
Conversely, three officials were removed from their posts: BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, and Deputy Chairs Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya. Dasco explained that the leadership reshuffle was based on several observations, including issues regarding governance, a lack of cross-ministerial cooperation, and other areas requiring improvement.
“From the explanation provided by the Minister of State Secretary, there were evaluations conducted by the government regarding governance and the lack of cross-ministerial cooperation, which were identified as areas needing rectification. The government is best positioned to address these specific notes,” he concluded.
