President Prabowo Subianto reiterated his optimism regarding progress in humanitarian and peace efforts in Gaza following the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace. He stressed the need for determination to achieve peace in Palestine.

“Thank God, the meeting went well and smoothly. We can see the progress that has been achieved,” Prabowo said in a press statement with media in Washington DC on Thursday (19 February 2026) local time.

Prabowo assessed that considerable progress had been made, particularly in the distribution of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. He also affirmed that the flow of food aid and basic necessities for Gazans is currently at its highest level in several years.

“I believe the flow of food aid and necessities for the people of Gaza is at its highest in several years. So food is sufficient, and other necessities are flowing in abundantly,” he added.

Nevertheless, Prabowo cautioned that various challenges still lie ahead. According to him, achieving peace requires strong determination and vigilance against numerous obstacles.

“It appears very serious indeed. Although we are determined to make this succeed, because it offers hope for peace — though in my brief statement I also reminded everyone of the many difficulties, the many obstacles and hurdles still ahead,” Prabowo said.

He also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment alongside other Muslim nations to push for lasting peace for the Palestinian people. “But yes, we must be determined to achieve success for the people of Palestine. We are certainly committed — several Muslim countries all reaffirmed our commitment to truly achieving lasting peace,” he continued.

Prabowo once again emphasised that the two-state solution is the only path to long-term peace. “For us, the real, the only long-lasting solution is a two-state solution,” the President said.

In the context of Indonesia’s support for stabilisation and peace efforts, the President also conveyed Indonesia’s readiness to contribute to international missions.

Regarding the timeline for deployment, the President indicated that the dispatch of an advance team could take place in the near future. “Perhaps the advance groups could go quite soon — perhaps within one to two months,” he said.

The President also confirmed that Indonesia has been asked to fill the Deputy Commander position within the mission’s command structure. “Yes, they have asked us to serve as Deputy Commander,” the President said.

President Prabowo’s commitment further underscores the consistency of Indonesia’s independent and active foreign policy stance in favour of humanitarian causes, positioning Indonesia as a strategic partner in efforts to create just and sustainable peace in the Middle East.
