Prabowo Affirms Commitment to Safeguarding Business Climate Before US Corporate Leaders
President Prabowo Subianto attended the US-Indonesia Business Summit 2026 held in Washington D.C. on Wednesday (18 February), on the sidelines of his working visit to the United States.
During the roundtable session, the Head of State captured the attention of senior figures from the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) and major corporations, including ExxonMobil and Freeport, by affirming his commitment to safeguarding the domestic business climate.
“As President, my responsibility is very clear. I must ensure stability, predictability, and execution. Without that, confidence weakens. With it, investment will come,” Prabowo stated firmly.
The focus of the meeting was on finalising the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART). The agreement is projected to serve as a “fast track” for Indonesian products to enter the US market with significantly fewer barriers.
The working visit yielded investment commitments worth USD 38.4 billion, equivalent to more than Rp 600 trillion.
President Prabowo’s participation in the Business Summit Roundtable further underscored Indonesia’s comprehensive diplomatic approach, combining national economic interests, investment strengthening, and an active role in maintaining global stability.
The forum is expected to open a new chapter in the Indonesia-United States partnership, not merely as trading partners but also as strategic partners in fostering peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who accompanied President Prabowo, described the ART as a new historic milestone.
“This agreement demonstrates Indonesia’s seriousness in creating a transparent and investment-friendly business environment,” said Airlangga.
The total potential cooperation worth USD 38.4 billion is divided into two main sectors: the industrial sector at USD 35.9 billion and the agricultural sector at USD 2.5 billion.
