PP Tunas Takes Effect, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Reminds of Sanctions for Non-Compliance
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo has reminded all electronic system providers of the administrative sanctions and fines that will be imposed if they fail to comply with the provisions outlined in PP Tunas.
Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Protection and Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) officially takes effect from Saturday, 28 March 2026, following its issuance by President Prabowo Subianto on 28 March 2025.
“In the regulation, we have implemented sanctions ranging from fines to the most severe being closure (of digital platform services),” said Angga Raka when met by journalists during his working visit to Bakauheni Port in South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, on Friday (27/3) night.
Angga Raka then explained that his ministry has been monitoring electronic system providers (PSE) deemed to be at risk. At least, there are 10 PSE believed to pose a high risk to children under 16 years old.
“There are 10 PSE that we have identified as high-risk. So far, we have also been communicating with these platforms. Our hope is that they comply with the rules,” he stated.
On the same occasion, during his working visit to Bakauheni Port to check the signal network and frequency conditions during the peak return flow, Angga Raka also spoke directly with several parents about the implementation of PP Tunas.
“We are here and saw some parents, and I asked and explained (about PP Tunas), and alhamdulillah, the parents also support it. The children understand it too. So, there were some children aged 13, aged 12, who were playing TikTok or using social media. They said their parents strongly support it and the children understand it. This means we are in line with (the objective) of Wait Until Child is Ready. We want to protect Indonesian children until they are ready to use social media,” said Angga.
The provisions in PP Tunas, which officially take effect today, include restrictions on access to digital platforms for children under 16 years old.
The regulation is expected to protect children from potential threats in the digital space, such as cyberbullying, digital scams, and exposure to negative content like pornography and content featuring violence.
