PP fires member for loyalty to Golkar

JAKARTA: The central board of the Pemuda Pancasila (PP) youth organization has fired a member following his support for the Golkar Party instead of the Pancasila Patriot Party, whose chairman also leads the PP.

The PP said in a statement on Friday that Johny Achmad Tambunan, the PP head in Bogor, West Java, had been dismissed for a statement made available to the public that the PP had no affiliation with the Pancasila Patriot Party.

Johny had told the Modus tabloid at the Golkar Party headquarters in Jakarta that PP chairman Japto S. Soerjosoemarno established the Patriot Pancasila Party in his capacity as an individual, and that the youth group had never held a congress to formalize its shift of allegiance.

The PP used to be affiliated to Golkar.

The youth group, however, said it would allow Johny to defend himself during its national meeting later this year. -- JP
