The power supply in parts of Jakarta experienced a disruption at 10:25 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2026. PT PLN (Persero) has been carrying out gradual restoration of the electrical system. Senior Manager of Communication and Public Affairs for PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Unit, Haris Andika, stated that the restoration process for the power supply is being conducted step by step, both in the control system and on the ground, since the disruption first occurred. “Our technical team is currently handling it intensively to restore the entire electrical system,” Andika said when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday. As part of the restoration process, PLN is also tracing the source of the disruption that occurred. The company urged the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unaccountable information. “At present, all personnel are on standby and striving to restore the power supply to normal as soon as possible,” Andika said. He added that PLN is also providing periodic updates on the restoration progress through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN 123 Contact Centre. As is known, several traffic lights along Jalan Daan Mogot in West Jakarta went out due to the power drop on Thursday afternoon. Cengkareng Police Traffic Unit Head AKP Yeni confirmed that several traffic lights on Jalan Daan Mogot in the Cengkareng area have been off since around 11:30 AM WIB. “Earlier, those traffic lights went out starting around 11:30 AM WIB. For the Cengkareng area, if PLN power goes out, the traffic lights automatically go out too. Specifically on Daan Mogot, the Cengkareng Timur and Cengkareng Barat traffic lights are out, both towards Rawa Buaya and the other three directions,” Yeni said when contacted by Antara in Jakarta on Thursday. Nevertheless, she said, vehicle flow has not yet experienced buildup. “Our members have already been deployed to several points for follow-up. Up to this afternoon, there has been no buildup,” Yeni stated. She said that vehicle buildup could potentially occur in the evening if the power does not come back on. “If it’s evening, because it’s rush hour, it usually builds up,” Yeni explained. Her side has contacted PLN regarding the power drop in the area. “I have already contacted PLN. From them, they said there is a problem, and it’s currently being followed up by PLN,” Yeni revealed.
